WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Today we will use texture and value to create an abstract composition that starts to give the impression of a form (3D).
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Value is a key way for artworks to convey depth and three dimensions. Practicing with abstract value shading techniques first will allow you to experiment and be more confident when you want to create more realistic forms.
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: You will create an abstract value and texture composition.
Use one or more value shading techniques to fill up a whole canvas (blending, crosshatching, stippling, your choice)
Vary the density of your brush marks to change the value.
Try to evenly blend between values.
Use a full range of dark and light value.
Use your class time effectively.
Today we will work with TEXTURE and VALUE to start creating FORMS.
TEXTURE is how a surface feels or appears to feel.
VALUE is the lightness or darkness of a surface.
We can use different TEXTURES of different densities to create VALUES.
